Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When are dues due?

A: Dues are due in January and are due annually. If you join mid-year, there is no pro-rated amount. It's still the least expensive professional emergency management association in the country.

Q: Can I transfer my membership to someone else?

A: No, we are sorry, but memberships reside with the individual and not your organization, even if they paid for it. If you change jobs or retire your membership continues until its expiration on December 31st. You can not transfer your membership to another individual.

Q: I attended the Annual UEMA Conference in January, do I still need to pay my dues for the year?

A: If you attended the UEMA Conference in January, $25.00 of the $75.00 registration fee are your dues for this calendar year. If you did NOT attend the conference, you now need to pay your annual membership dues of $25.00.
Q: How often are newsletters published?

A: Newsletters are published monthly February through December. The January edition is waived for the conference. The December issue is traditionally used to recognize our association award recipients.

Q: When are Officer Elections?

A: Officer elections have been conducted online since 2008. A Call for Nominations is sent to the membership in late fall with on line voting occuring during December. New officers are announced in the December UEMA News.

Q: How do I nominate someone for an office?

A: To nominate someone for office, simply email any member of the UEMA Board listed to the left.
